1) Individual Powerpoint Presentation Projects

You will now start work on a 5 minute Powerpoint presentation on a topic of your choice that you will be presenting to the class. Although you get to choose the topic, it must be approved by Mr. Maharaj before you start your work. Some ideas for presentation topics:
  • Biography of a person
  • Company (its history, product/services etc)
  • Product/service (e.g. iPhone, YouTube, Facebook)
  • Country/city
  • Historical event
Criteria:
  • Presentation should be approximately 5 minutes
  • Minimum of 10 slides
  • Pictures
  • Animations
  • Transitions (slide show transitions that are timed will receive higher marks)
  • Consistent design
You will be assessed in the following areas:
  • Knowledge (10) - Depth of understanding of the topic, ability to answer questions
  • Application (10) - Proper formatting and functioning of Powerpoint slideshow. Meets or exceeds stated criteria
  • Communication (10) - Slideshow is visually appealing and engaging. Minimal reading from slides or texts. Presentation is rehearsed and polished. Makes eye contact with audience.

As today is election day, we took a closer look at the three candidates for mayor. A profile sheet was given out in class and we watched a portion of the most recent mayoral debate.

How do you set margins in Word? How do you change the alignment of your bullets and text? We will find out in class today with both a demonstration and hand out.

2) Headers and Footers

We will not take a look at headers and footers in Word. Read the instruction sheet on headers and footers and try out some of the functions for yourself.

3) Bullets and Numbering Activity

Bulleted and numbered lists can be used to make your documents more organized, readable and visually appealing. Read the information sheet on bulleted and numbered lists and complete the activity.
